The object of the contract is the construction of the new Strymonas river bridge, located in the area between the settlements of Mavrothalassa and Myrkino.
The bridge has seven spans and its deck consists of 42 prefabricated prestressed beams that are 37m long and weigh about 90tn. The total length of the bridge is 278.30m.
A characteristic element of the area of the bridge is the particularly low-strength subsoil on which it is constructed and this is due to the fact that the area used to be Lake Achinos, which was drained in the 1930s. The low-strength subsoil causes difficulties and challenges during construction.
